In an article published last month, the New York Times looked at the career path that many top bartenders are taking, from working behind the bar to the high-flying life of a spirits brand ambassador. Now, Belvedere Vodka is offering you the chance to skip all that paying-dues stuff with its new contest, aptly titled “A Bartender’s Dream Job.”
Contestants will compete for a chance to win a one-year, $100,000 contract with Belvedere and become its 2011 Global Brand Ambassador, traveling around the world to educate various markets and bartenders on how to best enjoy Belvedere and create the most innovative and exciting cocktails. The 2011 Global Brand Ambassador will work alongside Claire Smith, Belvedere’s Head of Spirit Creation and Mixology. “We are thrilled to extend such a tremendous opportunity to so many talented individuals, bartenders and mixologists around the world,” says Smith.
Here’s the contest timeline:
- Call for entries (through October 15): Interested applicants will submit a 60-second video that shows off their fun personality, thirst for life and love for Belvedere on the Belvedere Dream Job Facebook page. Then, spread the word and get those vote counts up!
- Semi-Final Cocktail Challenge: After the voting polls close on October 15, selected semi-finalists will be chosen to participate in a series of Cocktail Challenges taking place in select major cities, including London and Sydney. During the challenge, contestants will compete to create ten classic cocktails in ten minutes and be judged by certain criteria.
- Final Competition: On December 15, seven finalists from all over the world will appear in front of the celebrity judges’ panel and be presented with the final challenge. At the end, the winner of the one year contract will be announced!
