April 2: Rum Grand Tasting at Caña Rum Bar

On Saturday, April 2nd, Liquor.com presents a Rum Grand Tasting at Caña Rum Bar, hosted by Caña GM Allan Katz and bartender Danielle Crouch. Following the format of last month’s Cognac Cocktail Class, the $65 Grand Tasting ticket includes an overview of rum, a guided rum tasting, and rum-based cocktails.
Katz will educate guests on rum in his own inimitable fashion, as well as lead a tasting of rums from Cruzan, Plantation and Zacapa. Attendees will also enjoy three cocktails, including the Caña Daiquiri, named one of L.A.’s 55 Essential Cocktails by Jonathan Gold: “(Allan Katz) regards the daiquiri with something approaching reverence, and you will find a caressing chill, an elusive tartness and two ounces of sweet, terrible clarity that includes within it the seeds of its own obliteration.” After reading that description, how could you not want one?
But wait, there’s more: Caña’s $20 membership fee is also included in the ticket. Space is limited, so don’t slack if you want to be part of a rum-tastic Grand Tasting this Saturday.
