Update 1/27: Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Cognac Cocktail Class has been re-scheduled to Saturday, February 5th. The ticket giveaway has been extended as well (see below).
From Napoleon to hip-hop, the story of cognac has taken many a twist and turn in its 300-year history. Sipped by kings, aristocrats and Lil Jon, cognac is also a key ingredient in cocktails, from 19th century recipes to modern interpretations. On Saturday, February 5th, you’ll get to master four of these cocktails in a Cognac Cocktail Class, presented by Liquor.com.
Your $50 ticket gives you access to an exclusive, hands-on experience inside The Varnish, the acclaimed cocktail den regarded as one of the country’s best bars. Leading the session will be Varnish co-owner Eric Alperin, 2010 Rising Star Mixologist and 2010 Spirited Award nominee for American Bartender of the Year. Joining Alperin for the two-hour class will be Varnish GM Chris Bostick.
During the class, you’ll learn how to make four cognac cocktails, including the classic Sidecar and Vieux Carré, a Cognac Manhattan, and an original Varnish cocktail. You’ll also go beyond the “Big Four” and sample cognac from premium brand Pierre Ferrand.
If you’ve been to The Varnish on a busy night, you’ll know that the intimate venue fills up fast. To ensure an optimal experience, the number of tickets to the Cognac Cocktail Class is very limited; buy your online tickets soon to guarantee your spot.
