The Wayback Machine: Cicada Club at the Oviatt

cicada-club

Tonight, step into the Jazz Age as “famed showman and impresario” Maxwell DeMille presents The Cicada Club at the historic Oviatt Building in downtown. In addition to the vintage music and entertainment, Cicada Club will offer a classic and signature cocktails menu, with libations grouped into Classic, Absinthe, Bourbon, and Gin.

Booking dinner reservations gets you a table for the night, while seating in the Mezzanine Lounge is on a first come, first served basis. There’s no cover, but Cicada Club does request evening or vintage attire:

“The Cicada Club has a dress code enforced by Mr. Smith, our practically perfect doorman. Men: coat and tie. No jeans, tee-shirts, zippered jackets, sweaters or athletic shoes. Ladies: cocktail dress, skirt or pant suit with matching jacket. Many of our patrons enjoy dressing in early 20th century vintage (1920s through 1950s) or contemporary evening attire (black tie and evening gowns). Do you want to be the only one at the club who is not properly dressed? At a minimum jacket and tie for men, dresses for ladies, please.”

A night out doesn’t get much classier than this; check out the Cicada Club Gallery and you’ll see what I mean.
