The Wayback Machine: Bloody Marys for 36 Cents

To  celebrate the 73rd anniversary of its maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City, the Queen Mary is serving its signature Bloody Mary for just 36 cents (the price in 1936, natch) in the Observation Bar. According to the Queen Mary’s official site, the gorgeous, Art Deco Observation Bar “is original to the ship and was one of the most popular locations on board during her sailing years.”

Normally I wouldn’t post something about an event in Long Beach, but today I’m making an exception because: a) it’s a Bloody Mary special, and a crazy cheap Bloody Mary special at that; b) the Queen Mary is one of those Southern California icons that holds a special place in my heart. I still remember a grade school field trip we took and being in awe of the Jacques Cousteau exhibit.

And how great is this comment, from the Queen Mary’s Facebook Event page: “Wish I could be there!! I sailed on the QM in Feb.1946 from England to NY.” Rock on, Mary from Kansas City!

In addition to the Bloody Mary special, the Observation Bar’s regular drink and apps menu is available. NOTE: the 36 cent Bloody Mary is limited to one per person.
