Eveleigh Guest Bartender Series Round 9

Launched last fall by Bar Manager Dave Kupchinsky, the Guest Bartender Series at Eveleigh continues to be one of the city’s best cocktail parties, showcasing LA’s top bartenders and visiting luminaries in the gorgeous setting of Eveleigh’s back bar. Round 9 of the series kicks off on Monday, November 12th, featuring the dynamic San Francisco duo of Brooke Arthur (House Spirits) and Jackie Patterson (Solerno). After our lovely friends from the Bay Area rock the Sunset Strip, a killer lineup of LA bartenders closes out the final Guest Bartender Series of the year:

Fundraiser for Antonia Becerra at The Famous

In recent weeks, the service industry has stepped up in a big way to help its own, from MurrayAid fundraising events to ongoing efforts to help those affected by Superstorm Sandy. On Monday, November 12th, The Famous is hosting an event to raise funds for Antonia Becerra, an 81-year-old waitress at Taix who lost her life savings to scam artists. Becerra, a Glendale resident who has worked at Taix for 44 years, was conned out of at least $40,000 and may have lost as much as $65,000, according to a Glendale News-Press article. The Famous, which opened in Glendale’s historic Huntley-Evans building in September, is donating a portion of its bar sales to Becerra during the event. There will also be a silent auction, which includes a baseball signed by former Dodgers catcher Russell Martin, spirits, and a date with one of The Famous bartenders. To contribute an item to the silent auction, call general manager Luke Leonard at The Famous.

The Glendale Police Officers’ Association has set up a fund for Becerra. To donate, please visit and select “Help Antonia Becerra.”
