It’s May 13th, and on this day last year I was in New York on the eve of the inaugural Manhattan Cocktail Classic to toast World Cocktail Day and celebrate my First Blogiversary with my blogger twin, The Dizzy Fizz. And even though I’ll be in L.A. this year and have to settle for vicariously drinking through everyone’s tweets and posts, I’ll be content in knowing that Los Angeles will be well-represented at MCC.

Bars and restaurants all over town will be hosting special events on the day that honors the Mexican Army’s victory over the occupying French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

Time flies when you’re having fun, and Caña Rum Bar is certainly a case in point, recently marking its first anniversary when it seems like only yesterday that it was celebrating its Grand Opening. Friends and well-wishers joined 213 Nightlife Proprietor Cedd Moses to toast Caña’s first year at a party that doubled as the formal launch of Caña’s Spring Cocktail Menu.
