A Knockout of a Party: The 2011 Bar Room Brawl at Tales of the Cocktail

Five bars from around the country entered Generations Hall to do battle, but in the end, only one was crowned the 2011 Bar Room Brawl World Champion: Boston’s Eastern Standard. LA’s Roger Room punched its way into a three-way tie for the Peoples’ Choice Award, along with Seattle’s Teardrop Cocktail Lounge, and Sable Kitchen & Bar from Chicago.

July 26: 1886 at the Raymond Launches New Summer Cocktail Menu

On Tuesday, July 26th, the 1886 Bar at The Raymond debuts its Summer Cocktail Menu, featuring 16 new drinks by Marcos Tello and the 1886 team. The new menu features signature summer cocktails, Tiki drinks, unearthed classics, and salutes to bartenders from LA and New York.

The last time I was in New Orleans, it was many years before Katrina, when my girlfriend and I stayed at her best friend’s house in the Garden District and we spent two weeks eating and drinking our way through the Big Easy. Pierre Ferrand Cognac is releasing the 1840 Original Formula, a revival of the classic three-star cognac, at the 2011 Tales of the Cocktail. The 1840 was developed by Pierre Ferrand proprietor Alexandre Gabriel and cellar master Christian Guerin, with help from spirits and cocktail historian David Wondrich.

The clash of tiki titans was the second edition of 320 Main’s Tiki Night series, taking place at the Seal Beach restaurant on the last Monday of every month.
